SNS Week of 11/6/2016

Another catch-up post, which I have back-dated to November 6, two days before the election.   As I am actually writing this on the 22nd, we know how it turned out.     This will be the last, brief blog to update the SNS 100.    The next one, which will combine the weeks of 11/13 and 11/20 will be a full one, as I have many issues to discuss.   In the meantime:

Michael Kiwanunka has a second week on top of the SNS 100 with "One More Night", but closing in is the ever-present Fitz and the Tantrums with "Roll Up", the latest single and the third featured on my blog.    This band, one notch away from its tenth #10 seems to be the "poster child" for this blog.   Last month, at a class reunion to celebrate our members' 60th birthdays, we were discussing music.  Naturally we all gravitated towards the songs we grew up with, but a friend Armand make a remark about new music and joked about Fitz and the Tantrums.    That's okay, I kind of wish more people would talk about what's out now.    Wait, then again, the pop scene leaves much to be desired.   Scratch that!

Wild Belle  grabs its sixth straight SNS top 20 as the ballad-like "Our Love Will Survive" comes in at #16.   Colony House and the latest from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, "Go Robot" also enter.    New this week is the latest from fave Danish duo The Raveonettes, with "NVRLND".  In what is perhaps a trend in the digital and streaming age, the duo isn't releasing an album, but rather a series of songs per month.   "NVRLND" was the one that was advertised on my News Feed on Facebook, thus I am going with that.    As you might remember, "Weird Al" Yankovic had announced a couple years back, that he would no longer release albums, but just timely singles.   Incidentially, "Bad Hombres and Nasty Women", where he is featured with the Gregory Brothers, moves 17-12.

Young the Giant's new single, "Silvertongue" is another good one and debuts at #80.  Jim James is from My Morning Jacket which has a few SNS top 10's under their belt; his solo debut, "Same Old Lie" comes in at #84.    Judah & the Lion and The Griswolds also debut.  It's Judah's first on my list, and the Griswolds' second.
