SNS week of 8/27/2017

An abbreviated blog as we play catch-up.   Trapdoor Social continues at the top for a third week with "Winning as Truth", while Nick Waterhouse holds strong in the runner-up spot with "It's Time".   In its 19th chart week, Portugal. The Man, which is now in double digits at the top of Billboard's alternative chart and is in the top 25 of the Hot 100, continues to bullet up to #3.    Some strong movers include Tennis' "In the Morning I'll Be Better", Electric Guest's "Oh Devil", their third top 20 entry on SNS, and The National's "The System Only Dreams in Total Darkness".    Weezer makes the top 20 finally with "Feels Like Summer" which has spent the entire summer season climbing my chart.

What is certain to be Billboard's "Song of the Summer", "Despacito", flies from 48-21, but still doesn't get the "Mover of the Week" honors; that goes to The Cranberries down at #70 with "Why", as that is a very competitive part of the chart.    That is demonstrated by the Top Debut, Pink, with her first album coming out in five years, Beautiful Trauma, and the first single "What About Us', debuting only at #85 despite an impressive first week points-wise.   Her last album, The Truth About Love, produced two SNS #1's, including the 7-week run at #1 of "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)".

Coming up in a couple of blogs (weeks) will be my announcement of my "song of the summer".  It appears to be a very close race to the end.    What will it be?   Stay tuned.
