The third "catch-up blog" finds the Black Keys still perched on the top of the SNS 100 for a third week, staving off MS MR which moves up to #2. The top 10 is pretty much tight as some songs like "Amy's World", "Sheila Put the Knife Down" and "Chamber of Reflection" are getting hot, but only move up one or not at all. The gap is definitely closing up.
Some big movers include "West Coast" by Lana Del Rey, and "Summer" by Calvin Harris, which is starting to become infectious.
Some noteworthy debuts this week include another track by Man Man, "Loot My Body". While not as immediate as "Head On" or "Pyramids", this is still catchy, and worth listening to, with a beat that is definitely persistent, making On Oni Pond an album worth listening to. It debuts at #60, and is followed close behind at #63 with "Take Me to Church", by Hozier, which is a solo artist (full name: Andrew Hozier-Byrne) from Ireland. This is haunting song for sure, and it very much grows on you, especially during the chorus. It's currently from the EP of the same name, with his eponymous debut album due in September. It's getting airplay already at alternative rock formats.
