M83 hits a second week at the top with "Go!", but Santana looms right behind with "Blues Magic". The throwback to the band's early days is one notch away from becoming the first "vintage" act (established before 1980) to top the chart. This is the Santana sound that I loved for their first three albums. 1999's Supernatural, of course was the all time big seller, done with guest vocalists of that era interspersed with some Carlos' guitar solos of his town, but it wasn't the "real" Santana. This one is, as it is the original band that released the first three albums and played the original Woodstock festival in 1969.
Fitz and the Tantrums, and two acts with Jersey musicians in them, Billy Spanton Band and Phoebe Ryan, round out the top five, while another band from the Garden State, The Hounds of Winter, take a big move from #55 to #19. And while we're at it, another Jersey Girl, Rachel Allyn, takes the Mover of the Week title, as her cover of "For What It's Worth" moves 58-41. And heck, let's extend the "Up and Coming" status to the Top Debut, Us Commoners' "Fallin'" at #81. Apparently the last single, as indicated on their Facebook page, "A Long Road Back Around", was never available for download, but "Fallin'" apparently is, and I am going with that one.
