Well, not only did she hit, but she hit really hard! Our power went out at 7:15 that night, and even worse, a tree hit the house two hours later. It was nine days later, November 7th that it finally came back.
So, what to do with SNS?
The list for October 22 appears below. October 29th will be a "frozen" week, similar to the two weeks in May and earlier October when the chart positions will hold, but an extra "week on list" will be incremented. Thus, the new number 1, "Lost in Time" by The Satelliters, with it's 60-ish garage band sound will hold the top position automatically for a second week; and Ellie Goulding's "Lights" currently holding up the list at #100, will log its 41st week on the list. That is third all time, behind Foster The People's "Pumped Up Kicks", (45 weeks), and Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" (44). Note that all three songs peaked in the top 3 of Billboard's Hot 100. Goulding's song, unlike the other two, had two separate SNS chart stays.
I will say one thing about the top debut, which is "When They Fight They Fight" by Generationals, an indie band from New Orleans, which graced the list last year with "Ten Twenty Ten", peaking at #33. That song was from their most recent set, Actor-Castor, from 2011. Similar to the Satelliter's chart topper, "When They Fight They Fight" is from 2009, and their first set, Con Law, and also has a sicties-sound, although more like the mid-60's pop sound of the Four Seasons rather than anything garage. my music compatriot Brian Sniatkowski played this song on his iPod during his recent geocaching party that he had. Unlike other times, I wrote down the song and artist and viola! The top debut.
