WELL, as you know, this is very very late, it was last week's blog, and most of you know about my accident passing out leaving the shower and landing me in the hospital overnight Friday into Saturday. Luckily, I had compiled my chart before that happened. This is going to be very brief, thus no chart analysis or reviews of newly added songs.

| Taylor Swift released our new songs to add onto her most recent album, including "Patient Zero" which debuted at #1, ending Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas" 24 week run at #1 on the Hot 100. |
I just wanted to mention that it had to take Taylor Swift to end Ella Langley's 24-week run at #1 with "Choosin' Texas". With no new "superstar" releases coming out, there seemed like no limit as to how long that song would go, given that the Hot 100 is in one of its typical stagnation runs. I wonder if Taylor Swift (one of very few artists who could unseat Ella) knew that when she decided to release four new songs and add them to her existing The Life of a Showgirl album. Needless to say, it did the trick, as "Patient Zero" debuted at #1 last week, unseating "Choosin' Texas", which had logged 14 consecutive weeks at #1 for an overall total of a record-setting 24. "Choosin' Texas" dropped to #2, with the other three Taylor songs at 3, 4 and 5. Stella Lefty's "Boston", which was #2 for the past few weeks, was at #6. Any chance that "Boston" could have overtaken "Choosin' Texas" was pretty distant, given that three Swift songs landed between the two in the chart week.
I also have to add that this is Taylor Swift's fourth number one this year, and her 16th in her career. She is all alone in third place, behind only The Beatles (20) and Mariah Carey (19). There's no sign that either of these two artists are going to add to their total anytime soon---The Far Four's resurrected "Now and Then" entered only at #7 a few years back, and as for Mariah, "All I Want For Christmas Is You" only counts as one, regardless of how many times it takes the top spot.
So, is this temporary and will the new Taylor tracks retreat, letting Ella back at the top? Well, it's Tuesday of the following week and "Patient Zero" is #1 for a second week. The other tracks fell out of the top 10. Drake---one of the few other artists capable of taking the top spot--entered at #6 this week. More on that next--I mean this---week.
I also have to add that over on the album chart, where Miley Cyrus' album Bass Persuades debuted at #1 the prior week, the set drops all the way to #117, becoming the biggest drop for an album that debuted at #1 in Billboard chart history. A dubious honor, indeed.
SNS 100: My top 10 is the same as last week with just internal jostling for position, as Sienna Spiro's "Material Lover" holds at #1 for a fourth week. And one new entry in the top 20, that being Pepper Creek's fourth straight hit in that region, "Turning 17" at #20. Last week's Top Debut is this week's Mover, Gotts Street Park featuring Pip Millet's "Flowers" moving 78-54. The Top Debut this week is the latest by The Half-Cubes, "When the Lights Are Out". The adept cover duo this time takes an obscure Slade song from 1974 and makes it their own. It comes in at #82. Other entries include "Patient Zero" entering next at #92 to go along with its Billboard chart-topper, reggae outfit Iration next at #94 with "Falling", Lisa Mychols, best known here for her part on Orbis Max's "R U OK" a few years back, enters with "Fall In" at #97. Alt-rocker beabadoobee is back with "Write Me a Letter" at #99, and country outfit Little Big Town is at #100 with "Sucker For a Sad Song". Bubbling under include Tally Spear's "Self-Confession" and Grace Potter's "Belong".
