Playlist For the Week of 5/24/2020


Hello all...

As I hinted at last week, this week's blog (which in itself is a bit late), is just my playlist.  No worries, though as I have an interesting subject for next week.

The Rolling Stones top my list this week with  their pandemic themed song "Living in a Ghost Town".  Gary Clark Jr holds at #2 with "Pearl Cadillac".   In fact, much of my top 10 is rather static, and even the top 20, with Pepper and Elise Farnsworth the only new entries.  I am still loving the songs I've been featuring and have been reluctant to let go of them.

Among the seven songs I added this week is led by King Tappa's "No Drama".  The dancehall/reggae artist, whose real name is Kurt Prince and had worked with my wife when we both were at Solix, has been releasing songs regularly.   I wasn't sure which ones to add.   Seems that the ones with videos were available and vice versa.   But this one is definitely a good choice.   The Griswolds follow their top 3 "Nice to Meet Ya" with "All My Friends" (no relation to The Revivalists song from a couple years back).   Eliza and the Delusionals follow up "Just Exist" with the even better "Pull Apart Heart".   Avi Wisnia, as I mentioned a few weeks back, was recommended to me by my Cape May friends Diane Carson and Suzanne Logeman (the same ones who brought C Lynne Smith to me).  Wisnia, a keyboardist mixes West Coast Jazz, bossa nova, blues and contemporary pop, has been added.   While his work stems back some twenty years, I tried looking for something recent; his 2015 "Sky Blue Sky", definitely fits the bill.  

Also added are Major Lazern with "Lay Your Head On Me" which features Marcus Mumford; Angel Olsen who lives in Asheville North Carolina but originally from St. Louis, and Powfu, who is from British Columbia and whose real name is Isiah Faber.
