That is, unless, Nick Waterhouse overtakes her with is cool, retro jazzy piece, "It's Time", which leaps to #2, displacing the still-bulleting "SHC" by Foster the People. It is possible that this may be the top three for awhile. Holding tough at #4 is "The Fighter" by Keith Urban featuring Carrie Underwood. Apparently, the song, which has been out forever is still climbing the country radio airplay charts and just recently entered the top ten. It is very popular with friends, and the former SNS number one may stick around for a bit. All this action forces LP's "Lost on You", which is on the Adult Top 40 charts, down a notch, as well as Thomas Rhett's second SNS hit, "Star of the Show". The Hounds of Winter advance to #7 with "I Get You", and Little Steven's "Soulfire" enters the top 10. Incidentally, the highest his cohort, Bruce Springsteen has gotten in the blog era was to #18 with "High Hopes" in 2014.
Alison Ireheta & Halo Circus garner their fifth straight SNS top 20 as "Band Aid" moves 21-14. Parquet Courts get their first top 20 with their second SNS entry as "Human Performance" goes from 22-15. Entering the top 20 without bullets are Twenty-One Pilots and Royal Bangs. The Bangs record is actually four years old from their most recent album, 2013's Brass, while the Pilots, who had three straight top 5 pop hits, go the slightly rock route this time around with their second straight SNS top 20, "HeavyDirtySoul", 24-18, following "Heathens" (#14). Their pop position on this one? Didn't even make the Billboard Hot 100. I just wonder when this rock resistance will ever end.
Foxygen has the top debut with "On Lankershim" which is sure to continue their streak of winners, and Foo Fighters also return with "Run". Sir Sly's alt-rock hit, "High" has been added as well, and Haim follow their big song from a few years ago, the "#6 forever from 2013, with the more subdued "Want You Back". And finally, I add Saint Motel's "Sweet Talk" based on hearing it on my caching excursion to Jersey City earlier this month.
