Red Hot Chili Peppers stay at the top, for a third week, with local favorites Paul Czekaj and Us Commoners in the 2nd and 3rd position, and Kaleo's big alt-rock hit dropping a notch to #4. "Way Down We Go" is top 3 alternative, behind Blink 182, which here, inches a bit closer to the SNS top 20, and the Chili Peppers, which finally attain Billboard's #1 alternative ranking to go with that distinction here.
Fitz & the Tantrums' album cut "Complicated" makes a huge leap as the song leaps from #35 to #7, becoming the band's 14th consecutive top 20 song on my blog. Like "HandClap", which remains in the top 5, this is a rather quirky song, and the jury is still out on whether I like the direction this band has taken; which is a far cry from their awesome debut Picking Up the Pieces. But it still has traces of the band that I love, and of course, I will continue to explore further songs from their third, self-titled album.
The Revivalists get their first top 10 with "Wish I Knew You", while Pink is the lone representative of the pop world has "Just Like Fire" becomes her fifth top 10 on my chart. M83 takes a big jump into the top 20 with their "Go", and Mayer Hawthorne makes a bit of a "comeback" into the top echelon with the Hall & Oates-inspired "Cosmic Love".
A post by my friend Gail Bradley propels Adele's "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)" from #20 to #13; the song reaches the top 10 of Billboard's Hot 100. Further down, local fave The Billy Spanton Band has the mover of the week with "Shake Your Soul", and Phoebe Ryan, with a cool article on her in Rolling Stone and an "endorsement" of sorts from Taylor Swift, gets a boost with "Chronic", 63 to 43..
There are no new singles announced from the original Santana band's reunion album Santana IV after "Anywhere You Want to Go", so I am exploring the album further and came up with a nice bluesy number, the aptly-titled "Blues Magic" which gives me flashbacks of "Samba Pa Ti". A great effort. Also debuting are two bands from the recent WNTI Stage, The Doughboys and The Grip Weeds, as well as SNS veterans Two Door Cinema Club and Leon Bridges.
